Ok, I know It's been some time since I Blogged about my comings and goings. I do apologize. So let me catch you all up to speed. This past weekend, I was in San Francisco particpating in the TRI-Cal Triathlon. Over 50 of my follow BL'ers, from Season's 1 to 9 all participated. Some did 5k's, 10k's, and most did the Olympic Triathlon.
When I was first asked to do the full tri-athlon I was like WHAT!!!. What does that consist of? Swimming, Biking ,and Running! My first thought was Oh
H --LL NO!! LOL. But then the voice of reason kicked in, and said; Carla, you did a Half Marathon last year...you can do a triathlon. I said to the voice, I haven't even began to train for something like that, are you CRAZY!!!
After contemplating, I was on board. So I called my girl, Nicole Brewer, and she was down. But then she informed me that she wasn't able to do the full on her own...and suggested doing a relay team. That was even better, but now we have to find a third person...who might that be. Our girl, Ryan Kelley from Season 2. It was perfect, we all had our specialties. Ryan swam, I biked, and Nicole loves to run (matter of fact, she'll be running in the New York Marathon this Fall). So we named our team, "3 GLAM GIRLS", how perfect was that. Then we were off to San Francisco.
When I left Detroit, the temperature was anywhere from the high 90's to the 100's, matter of fact we had a HEAT WAVE! I arrived in San Francisco, and it was cool(low to mid 60's) like Fall...what in the world! Luckily, I brought my sweater that I normally carry with me, otherwise I would have FROZEN to DEATH! LOL
Race Day:
We were all pumped up and ready to go. We all did our parts...I conquered that bike. The only thing I didn't prepare for were hills, because Detroit doesn't really have any! Going up the Hill was comical, going down was even funnier, I had people cracking up at me. But I will say we came in at a good time. Our time was
4hrs 31mins. How you like that for first time triathletes?
It was an awesome weekend and a good experience, and maybe just maybe, I'll do a Full on my own. We'll see!!
