"Been A Long Time, I Shouldn't Have Left You"!!

Ok, I know It's been some time since I Blogged about my comings and goings. I do apologize. So let me catch you all up to speed. This past weekend, I was in San Francisco particpating in the TRI-Cal Triathlon. Over 50 of my follow BL'ers, from Season's 1 to 9 all participated. Some did 5k's, 10k's, and most did the Olympic Triathlon.

When I was first asked to do the full tri-athlon I was like WHAT!!!. What does that consist of? Swimming, Biking ,and Running! My first thought was Oh
H --LL NO!! LOL. But then the voice of reason kicked in, and said; Carla, you did a Half Marathon last year...you can do a triathlon. I said to the voice, I haven't even began to train for something like that, are you CRAZY!!!

After contemplating, I was on board. So I called my girl, Nicole Brewer, and she was down. But then she informed me that she wasn't able to do the full on her own...and suggested doing a relay team. That was even better, but now we have to find a third person...who might that be. Our girl, Ryan Kelley from Season 2. It was perfect, we all had our specialties. Ryan swam, I biked, and Nicole loves to run (matter of fact, she'll be running in the New York Marathon this Fall). So we named our team, "3 GLAM GIRLS", how perfect was that. Then we were off to San Francisco.

When I left Detroit, the temperature was anywhere from the high 90's to the 100's, matter of fact we had a HEAT WAVE! I arrived in San Francisco, and it was cool(low to mid 60's) like Fall...what in the world! Luckily, I brought my sweater that I normally carry with me, otherwise I would have FROZEN to DEATH! LOL

Race Day:

We were all pumped up and ready to go. We all did our parts...I conquered that bike. The only thing I didn't prepare for were hills, because Detroit doesn't really have any! Going up the Hill was comical, going down was even funnier, I had people cracking up at me. But I will say we came in at a good time. Our time was
4hrs 31mins. How you like that for first time triathletes?

It was an awesome weekend and a good experience, and maybe just maybe, I'll do a Full on my own. We'll see!!

Home Training Group!!

When I started gaining weight, I hated going to the gym. It felt like everyone was looking at me, therefore I wouldn't go. Working out with a trainer at the gym felt even worse...because the yelling and screaming drew attention to the fat girl who wasn't doing what the trainer wanted her to do. So embarrassing!!

I know that there are trainers that don't scream and yell...but at that time I had encountered trainers that did, and that was it for me. Had I known trainers would come to my home and work me out, I would've done that. Being in the comfort of my own surroundings, not having everybody and they're momma staring or looking at me, and feeling uncomfortable. I would've jumped on the chance!!

I had know idea that there where companies out there that offer this service. Well, there is one company in particular, HOME TRAINING GROUP.

I met the owner (Candice Belfour) who had gone through some of the same feelings and emotions, that I expressed. She tried many things, gone to gyms and was embarrassed and humiliated. Candice even tried out for The Biggest Loser, and was not chosen...another rejection. So she started asking trainers if they would / could train her at home because she was a stay at home mom with two young boys.

Only one trainer, said yes...came out worked her out and helped her lose over 130lbs at home. She came up with the idea and started Home Training Group. I was amazed by her story. I know that there are so many women and men all across the world that have experienced or currently experiencing what Candice and I felt. Well with Home Training Group, you can have affordable personal trainers come to your home.

I became a Territory Operator for Home Training Group, and what better way for me to stay in shape and continue my weight loss journey than partnering with a company that offers in home personal training.

A Dream Deferred

If I could go back in time and pursue my dream of becoming a model in my teens, I could have been the next Carla (Tyra) Banks...Exploring the universe and traveling the globe to see what life had to offer. That wasn't the plan GOD had for me...HE had me take the long route, and endure trials & tribulations, rejection, acceptance, love, and heartbreak to make me appreciate the blessings HE had in store. Do I wish I coulda, shoulda, woulda...of course!! But I'm glad I didn't.

My life has come full circle, I've been blessed to have experienced many things...now I have the opportunity to do what I initially wanted to do, but it was all in HIS timing. I'm glad that I waited patiently. I am pleased to announce that I was featured in the June 2010 issue of Plus Model Magazine, in a spread entitled Utilitarian Desert Chic. No longer a dream deferred...a dream come true!

What Is Excercise To You!

Excercise is anything that gets and keep you moving! I'm often asked what type of excercise do I do? Traditional...treadmill, elyptical, and spin/recumbent bike, etc... But I get bored, tired, and fed up with the same ole thing! How many of you feel the same way? I like to have fun, So I started dancing to burn some calories.

Most of you that watched me on The Biggest Loser know that I incorporated dancing as part of my workout routine. Dancing, for me, burned 1100 calories an hour...so I would dance as many hours as I could.

To keep moving...I also did yard work...cut the grass, rake leaves, swept the curb and sidewalk...those of you that do yard work know,
that's a workout. I'm sharing these things, so that you get an idea of ways you can start burning calories.

Whatever exercise is too you, make it fun!! Let me know how it goes!

Losers Make Excuses, Winners Make it Happen!

There's no quick fix. There's no instant magic pill that's gonna help you lose the weight. You have to put in the dedication, the blood, the sweat, the tears. I can tell you from personal experience that it takes...SELF MOTIVATION! No one can make you do it, you have to want to do it yourself.

For those of you who don't me, I'm Carla Triplett. I was on The Biggest Loser Season 7 and was the Heaviest Women Ever in the history of the show. I weighed in at 379lbs, I lost a total of 128lbs, and my journey still continues. This blog is about sharing my weight loss story, so that I can encourage, motivate, and inspire others who are struggling with losing weight.

Excuses are made to satisfy yourself, and no one else. Let's be winners together!
